Intertwine Festival
Intertwine Festival
The Intertwine Festival is NOVA’s spring celebration of artistic collaboration—where movement and music meet in bold, original performance. Hosted at the Jersey City Theater Center, the festival brings together choreographers and composers to premiere new works that embody innovation, dialogue, and creative risk-taking.
In its inaugural 2024 edition, Intertwine featured four dynamic duos of artists whose collaborations explored how sound and motion can shape emotion, space, and story. Each piece offered a distinct conversation between disciplines—blending rhythm, gesture, and experimentation into an unforgettable evening of performance.
Our Story
Founded by Nurturing Original Voices in the Arts (NOVA), the Intertwine Festival was created to spotlight the power of collaboration as both an artistic method and a community practice. Designed as an incubator for new interdisciplinary works, Intertwine reflects NOVA’s commitment to nurturing emerging creators and fostering partnerships that cross boundaries of genre and tradition.
The first festival, held in April 2024, marked an exciting new chapter in Jersey City’s performing arts landscape. Its success established Intertwine as an annual platform for artists to connect, experiment, and premiere original works that challenge and inspire.
The Spirit of Intertwine
At its heart, Intertwine celebrates the creative spark that occurs when artists come together. Through composer–choreographer collaborations, the festival cultivates a sense of shared authorship—where each movement, sound, and silence becomes part of a living conversation.
By uniting artists and audiences in this experience, Intertwine embodies NOVA’s mission to support original voices and highlight the beauty of collaboration in all its forms.
